Since the popular comic rapper, Falz tha Bhad Guy did a remake of Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” and called it “This Is Nigeria”, several groups have come out to either condemn or applaud the video and the content of the song.
However, a recent document which has surfaced the net indicates that a line off the singers lyrics has been flagged as “vulgar” and declared “unfit for radio” by the National Broadcast Commission (NBC).
Precisely this line “This is Nigeria; look how we living now. everybody be criminal”.
Folaranmi Folayan who shared the document on Twitter also aired her view saying;
Apparently Falz’s line “this is Nigeria; look how we living now. everybody be criminal” has been flagged “vulgar” and the song is now declared “unfit for radio”.
See why sometimes I can’t blame our musicians if they choose to give social commentary a wide berth?
Falz had come under so much pressure after releasing the visuals.
A popular Islamic group MURIC, had called on Falz to take down the video.
Falz and his management on the other hand resisted the demands of the group saying they have done no wrong.
The song was also recognised and endorsed by an international act, Sean John Combs popularly knows as P. Diddy.
